Checked: A Focused System for Getting Work Done

2 min read

I created this system because I was frustrated with how most task managers feel to use.

Checked is a focused workspace that helps you track your work from idea to completion. It keeps things simple by avoiding clutter, complexity, and extra features that just get in the way.

The main goal is clarity.

Concept

Most productivity tools try to do too much.

Too many notifications, integrations, and features can make it hard to focus on what matters. Checked was made to fix that, so you can clearly see what needs to be done, what’s in progress, and what’s finished.

It gives you just what you need—no more, no less.

Organizations, spaces, and boards help keep things organized, but the experience stays simple. The aim is to help you keep moving your work forward.

Tools & Workflow

Checked is a custom app built with a Laravel backend and a clean, responsive interface.

The system is organized into a few main parts:

  • Organizations: top-level grouping (teams, brands, projects)
  • Spaces: categories for different types of work
  • Boards: where your tasks are managed and moved along

Each board supports:

  • A Kanban-style workflow (To Do, Doing, Done)
  • Filtering by people, labels, due dates, and priority
  • Quick card creation and updates
  • Lightweight reminders and activity tracking

The main focus is speed. Everything is designed to make it easier to go from planning your work to actually getting it done.

Creative Direction

The user interface is minimal and well-organized.

Soft contrast, clear hierarchy, and consistent spacing make everything easy to read without being overwhelming. Rather than focusing on flashy visuals, the design puts usability first, so you can use it for hours without getting tired.

It’s designed to stay out of your way while you work.

Results & Impact

Checked was made to solve a personal problem: staying organized without feeling overwhelmed.

It has already replaced third-party tools in my daily workflow, especially for tracking content and planning projects. Most importantly, it gives me a system that fits the way I work, instead of making me follow someone else’s process.

It also sets the stage for something bigger: a tool that could grow into a full collaboration platform while staying simple.

Reflection

Managing tasks is not the same as managing your attention.

Most tools keep track of what you could do, but very few help you focus on what matters most right now.

Checked is my way of trying to fix that.

It’s not about doing more. It’s about seeing things clearly, working with purpose, and finishing what you start.
