The gift of waiting

January 28, 2026 Brendon 1 min read

The gift of waiting seems to be one of the ways God shows us love. When you look through the Bible, you see it everywhere—people left waiting in all kinds of situations. Waiting on promises. Waiting on direction. Waiting on God to move.

I don’t usually see it that way. At least not in the moment.

Lately I’ve been learning how important waiting actually is.

What made me write this in the first place? Honestly, two things.
One, boredom. I was just sitting here staring at a blank screen.
Two, thinking through yesterday—rehashing old ideas, old lessons, letting my mind wander like it tends to do.

Somewhere in all that, a thought landed and wouldn’t let go.

Is the hard part really the waiting?
Or is it not knowing what comes after the waiting?

Because waiting with a clear ending isn’t that hard. You can count down to it. You can plan for it. But waiting without knowing what’s next—that’s where trust gets tested.

That’s where faith stops being theoretical.
